The Dream That Changed Everything
It might surprise some of you, but my journey into real estate started with a literal dream. One night, I had a dream about real estate—clear as day. The next morning, I woke up, hopped on Google, and signed up for real estate classes.
To be fair, the idea may have been planted long before. I had close friends and a sister who were successful real estate agents, though not locally. Maybe my subconscious had been at work, nudging me in a direction I hadn’t considered seriously before. Either way, I’m grateful for that moment every single day because it set me on a path I never expected but desperately needed.
But let’s rewind to the weeks leading up to that defining moment.
Feeling Overwhelmed
Before real estate, I was working in Dallas. My teaching contract had ended, and I chose not to renew it (but that’s a story for another time). I went back to work for my previous employer, assisting a Production Company in Dallas with Operations and Accounting. At first, it seemed like a great opportunity, but it didn’t take long before I started noticing cracks in the company. Something felt off.
I came home from work every day feeling drained, stressed—more than I should have been. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it until one day, everything became painfully clear.
The Fallout
One afternoon, in our sleek Dallas office, my boss blindsided me in front of the entire management team. The company had been swirling with rumors, and I knew something big was coming—I just didn’t expect to be the target.
This was a man I had respected for years, but I had also seen him sabotage others. While it stung, it wasn’t entirely surprising when it happened to me. I remember feeling sick to my stomach, but I knew right then and there that I was done. Without a second thought, I walked out—and never returned.
He tried to call, claiming we could “work things out.”
But integrity is non-negotiable for me. I hold myself to a high standard, and I expect the same from the people I surround myself with. So, I left for good.
And luckily, I had already completed 90% of my real estate courses. Within weeks, I wrapped them up, got my license, and stepped into an entirely new world.
The Beginning
I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe everything happens for a reason. I was meant to experience betrayal and hardship in business—because, as it turns out, that wouldn’t be the last time.
That experience toughened me. It made me cautious, but it also made me resilient. It taught me how to navigate tough situations, how to stand my ground, and how to be selective about who I trust. Those lessons would prove invaluable in real estate, a field where preparation, confidence, and integrity are everything.
I took every hard lesson I had learned and made a promise to apply them to my new career. I wasn’t about to let fear or doubt hold me back.
So, I did the only thing I could do.
I started.
Being Courageous Enough to Follow Your Path
Everyone is on their own journey, but we often forget that. Some people will walk alongside you for a season, and others will drift away. But at the end of the day, the only person who will be with you for life is you.
When I entered real estate, I joined a company that felt like home. I immersed myself in learning and growth, giving everything I had to help build their success.
But when the time came to chase my own dream—to start my own business—I quickly realized that not everyone wants to see you rise. The people I considered family didn’t support my decision. Still, I knew I had given everything I had to their company, so I resigned with kindness.
But kindness wasn’t returned. My Broker stood up in the middle of our conversation, walked away, and within ten minutes, had terminated my license.
It was a harsh reminder that not everyone has your best interests at heart.
No one believed in me.
Who was I to start my own business? I had been in real estate for less than a year, and yet, I dared to defy the odds. People talked. People laughed. People waited for me to fail.
I was hurt. Again.
But deep down, I knew I was on my own path to something bigger. Nothing was going to stop me.
So, I kept going.
I focused on my vision. I let the dust settle. And I silently worked toward my dream.
The Power of Resilience
Life will always throw adversity your way. You have to decide whether to let it break you or push you forward. If you don’t face challenges head-on, you’ll stay stuck.
So shake things up. Be a disruptor.
Because it’s usually the disruptors who find success.
Over the years, I’ve met incredible people who are also forging their own paths. Some have walked beside me, while others have veered off on their own journeys. And that’s okay.
I’ll never be the person who stands in the way of someone chasing their dreams. Instead, my goal is to help others reach theirs.
Because if my own journey has taught me anything, it’s that the only limits that exist are the ones we accept. And I refuse to accept any.
