What I Really See for My Business

Published on April 9, 2025

I’ve shared glimpses of my vision with different people—friends, coworkers, family, my team. But no one’s ever heard the whole thing. Not in my words, not without interruption, not without someone asking me to sum it up in a sentence or two.

And that’s a lot of pressure.

So I usually just say a few big-picture things, smile, and change the subject. I’ve never really said it all out loud. Not even to myself.

Which means… this might actually be the first time I’m hearing it, too.

The Vision

I didn’t truly know the vision for my company until recently. Sure, I had a direction—but a direction is very different from a vision.

When I opened my company in 2018, I had no idea it would evolve into what it is today. My initial goal? To be an independent Broker. To work with clients without giving up commission splits. To have full control over my marketing and messaging. At the time, I was still running a bookkeeping business. Honestly, my vision for real estate was simply to get someone to want to work with me. That’s it.

Fast forward almost seven years (MPP’s birthday is next week, by the way—maybe I should throw it a party… sorry, squirrel).

Today, we offer a full range of services, including brokerage, property management, and construction. I’ve successfully closed hundreds of real estate deals, sponsor five agents (with two more in the process of getting licensed), and employ seven full-time, local team members. We currently manage nearly 300 doors, and I’ve personally flipped over two dozen properties (and counting), with experience in more than 100 make-readies, renovations, and new construction projects.

When I think about the journey—I’m honestly flabbergasted. This is my life.

After seven years of building, the vision is finally clear. I want a real estate company unlike any other. One where fun and quality of life matter. Where someone actually answers the phone. Where the possibilities are endless. Where investors can get everything they need in one place—buying, selling, property management, remodeling, construction. We handle the full lifecycle of a property and guide smart investment decisions along the way.

My vision includes a community of intentional investors. People who are serious about making real estate their business—or at the very least, who value the investment journey. Whether they own one property or hundreds, our clients trust us. They back our decisions, stay involved, and align with us every step of the way.

And for my team? I want them to feel valued and loved. I couldn’t do this without them. No one on our team matters more than anyone else. If you join our team, you’re joining a family. Here, we respect each other. We don’t judge. We have each other’s backs. My team is stacked with talent and experience—some have been with me since day one. Everyone understands the vision because we talk about it constantly. We’re always looking ahead at how each person can grow within the company.

Our office? Funky, fresh, and flawlessly functional. It’s bold, inspiring, and thoughtfully designed. From the front desk to the executive offices, everything runs like a well-oiled machine. Walk in and you’ll be greeted with a coffee and snack bar so you can settle in and stay awhile.

I love this team. I’m not a parent myself, but many of my team members are—and I’ve known some of them since before they had kids. We’ve grown together, both personally and professionally. I’ve heard their stories, supported them through tough seasons, and watched their little ones grow up. Their kids are part of our extended work family—always welcome in the office and at our holiday parties.

One of my biggest dreams? On-site childcare.

I envision an office with an attached daycare—completely free for our team. A place where parents can drop their kids off just steps away, knowing they’re in trusted hands. A space where popping in for a quick hug or sharing lunch together is totally normal.

I know how hard—and expensive—it is to find reliable childcare. I’ve seen the stress it puts on working parents. And if I can remove even a piece of that burden? That’s the kind of workplace I want to build. It’s not just a perk. It’s about building a workplace that works for real life.

And the vision doesn’t stop there. Eventually, I see us expanding into multiple markets. Maybe even becoming a franchise—but never with a corporate feel. Every client should feel like our only client. If that means capping the number of doors we manage in a single area to protect our level of service, so be it.

Because the mission will always be the same: Exceptional service. Real connection. Unmatched results.

The Business Structure: Departmental by Design

If you don’t know, I own a real estate brokerage and property management company in North Texas. We’re based in a small-town community that’s been steadily growing over the past few years.

When I started in real estate back in 2018, I was only doing sales. I didn’t even know what property management was. That changed in 2020 when I launched our property management division. Since then, things have evolved fast.

Today, our company runs on a departmental structure—and that’s by design. We have dedicated teams for every stage of the customer journey: onboarding, leasing, accounting, maintenance, construction. No one’s winging it or juggling too many hats. Every role has purpose, and every process has structure.

I’ve done every job in this company at some point. Sitting in each seat gave me clarity—not just on what needed to happen, but on how I wanted each role to operate. That experience allowed me to train with intention and build systems that truly support each department.

Pod-Structure?

Along the way, I learned about the pod structure—a model that works really well for some companies. The idea is simple: give each property owner one main point of contact. I’ve heard how important that is to some clients, so we’ve built a pod-like element into our existing departmental structure. For those who want that single point of contact, our Property Manager steps in as their go-to. She’s plugged into weekly meetings with all department heads and stays fully up to speed on everything happening across the portfolio.

But honestly? Most of our clients end up loving the full team experience. They get to know exactly who to reach out to for what—and they’re getting answers straight from the expert who owns that role.

It works. It works really well.

Hospitality Meets Property Management

I’ve worked in hospitality—a steakhouse, a high-end assisted living facility, and later, I owned and managed several vacation rentals. Those experiences taught me what it means to create a truly great guest experience. Anticipating needs. Remembering preferences. Making people feel seen and taken care of.

And honestly? That’s where I think our industry is falling short.

The sales and construction sides of my business are mostly transactional by nature. You buy a house. You finish a project. There’s a clear beginning and end. But property management? That’s a different world. It’s not transactional—it’s deeply relational.

And I see a big gap.

Most companies focus almost entirely on the owner’s experience—maximizing returns, minimizing vacancy, protecting assets. All important things, yes. But what about the resident? What about how they feel living in the home we manage? Because their experience matters, too.

Imagine a property management company where both sides of the relationship—owner and resident—are treated with equal care. Where hospitality isn’t just a buzzword, but a standard. Think about the best hospitality you’ve ever received—at a boutique hotel, a fine-dining restaurant, or a luxury vacation rental. Now imagine bringing that same level of intention to real estate.

That’s what we’re building.

If you already think our customer service is strong, just wait. This isn’t a gimmick or a quick fix—it’s a long-term shift in how we approach the work we do. A true focus on the people behind the properties. A belief that how we treat people matters just as much as what we do for them.

Because when people feel seen, heard, and cared for—everything else gets better, too.

My Why

The first thing I have to be real with myself about is my why.

A lot of people, when asked that question, say, “My family is my why.” And that’s great—I love that for them. But if I’m being completely honest? My why has always been about creating a life I actually want to live.

That’s it. That’s the truth. Every decision I make, every risk I take, every step forward—it’s all to move me closer to the dream life I see in my head.

And honestly, I think if more people allowed themselves to admit that, we’d be better off. But somewhere along the way, we were taught that doing something for you makes you selfish. When really, it means you’re finally learning to love yourself—or at least trying to.

The biggest thing life has taught me is that no one is responsible for your happiness but you. You have to decide it’s yours to claim.

That’s why I started this business. That’s why I keep showing up for it, even on the hard days. Because I know it’s part of the bigger picture for me. And in chasing that, my hope is that the people I love—my family, my team, my community—get to step closer to their version of a dream life, too.
